Corolla Map Kate and Jim - Outer Banks, NC
Welcome

Are you really getting married?
Yes, it's true. We are really getting married! And we couldn’t be happier about it!

Are you sure you have known each other long enough?
Yes, we know. 15 years is kinda rushing it. But we’re risk takers.

How did this happen?
We first met in college (at Tufts in 1990) in freshman year English. Jim swears he remembers the exact moment, but Kate’s memory is a bit more fuzzy. We became close friends in college and stayed in touch after graduation. In fact every year, we vacationed in the OBX with friends between Christmas and New Years (often while we dated other people). When Jim moved to DC for work, he stayed with Kate for a few months (never imagining he would be later moving in for good once they got married!) After Jim “tricked” Kate into going with him to one of the most romantic places on earth (Palm Cove, Australia), it was all over. We returned from Australia as a couple and have been happily dating ever since! - - So, thank you Sonya and Mike for being the catalysts, as our Australian hosts.

Why the Outer Banks?
We thought about having a wedding in one of our home towns or in Washington, DC, but decided we wanted to do something a bit different. We have been vacationing together in the Outer Banks (as friends!) for years and both love the beach and the water. So we decided it was the perfect spot for a casual, fun wedding celebration.

What is the dress code for the wedding?
The reception will be held under a tent at a historic home overlooking the Currituck Sound. Think garden party rather than formal wedding. People have asked for more specifics, so...while we wouldn't suggest jeans and flip flops, men shouldn't feel like they have to wear suits..ladies might might consider a fun sundress or something not too formal. Since the reception will be outside, very high heels might not be the best choice. We would also recommend bringing a sweater in case it gets cool on the water later in the evening. Most of all, we want you to be comfortable– don’t forget your dancing shoes please!

Are children invited?
Absolutely. We would like nothing better than to celebrate with all of our friends and family – young and old! We will have special "kids tables" with activities for the little ones - and even some babysitters at the wedding to keep an eye on the children. If you would like to bring your children with you to Corolla, but prefer to attend the wedding alone, let us know and we can help you arrange babysitting.

Where are you registered?
We are registered at these stores:

Pottery Barn
Crate and Barrel
Target
Honeymoon Registry - TheBigDay.com

Can you recommend a babysitter in the area?
If you prefer to attend the wedding without children and would like a babysitter, we suggest At Your Service (252) 261-5286. They are the oldest and largest babysitting service on the Outer Banks. While we can't say we have used them ourselves, they come highly recommended by the vendors we have met in OBX.

Are there Taxi services in OBX?
Yes, there are a couple of Taxi services if you need transportation while you are in town. Try Outer Banks Taxi at 252-207-2737 or Coastal Cab Company at 252-449-8787.
